Bakery

Since time immemorial, Russia has been famous for its tradition to greet guests by presenting them with an offering of bread and salt.  This is not just a tribute to the hospitality tradition, but manifestation of folk wisdom.  Hence the saying: “Bread is the Master of Everything”.

Here is why Anzhelika Faatovna Rakhmatullina has been in baking business for 11 years.  She started in 1995 when she rented out a small trading stand at the kolkhoz market in Krasnousolsky settlement of Bashkortostan Republic.  Together with her husband, she traded foodstuffs. By 2003, they had saved enough money to be able to rent a store for wholesale and retail trade operations in foodstuffs.  At the same time, she opened a mini baking house and a bakery store called “Hot Bread”.

The baking house and the bakery store are located on the territory of the district’s central market.  From eight in the morning till eight in the evening, it attracts customers who hurry to buy its hot aromatic bread.  The baking house operates round-the-clock: the only oven they have can accommodate only 96 loafs, but the overall demand reaches 2,000 per day, which is much higher on week-ends. Thus, a small team of six bakers and two salespersons works tirelessly to make dough, form loafs, remove them from the hot oven, and serve the retail and wholesale customers.

The bread Anzhelika Faatovna bakes is really delicious, hence the large demand for her produce. To increase the volumes of production, high-tech equipment was needed which would allow her to cut down on the production costs as well.  Thus, in 2005 she applied for a loan to UralSib for the purpose of purchasing a new oven.

Anzhelika Faatovna never stops when her current goals are achieved but tends to set new goals. She rented out a whole trading section in a trading centre in Sterlitamak and additional premises for a food store near the Railway Station.  And these were only some of her new initiatives! In 2005, the Rakhmatullins set up production of bottled mineral water under the brand name of “Krasnousolskaya”. A mineral water bottling complex was built and necessary equipment bought.

In winter 2006, Anzhelika Faatovna took out her second loan from UralSib for the acquisition of new equipment for the mini-bakery.

Rakhmatullina is a permanent and reliable client of UralSib Bank within the framework of the EBRD Russia Small Business Programme.  She plans to take more loans, as she plans to expand the volumes of production of bread and mineral water, and to add new activities to her existing business.

The entrepreneur has three daughters who are actively involved in the family business and make plans about its future development.
